Where to Get Married in Bulgaria

Wedding Destinations in Bulgaria: More Than a Venue List

Here you’ll find a selection of wedding venues in Bulgaria that we know, have worked with or consider worth exploring. They are here to give you a starting point, not to suggest that you should choose a venue from a website alone.

One of the most valuable parts of our planning service is the behind-the-scenes research. We look far beyond photographs and venue descriptions. We speak directly with the venue, review their current terms and conditions, understand what is included and what may cost extra, and look closely at accommodation, access, timings, music restrictions, catering, indoor alternatives, and how the venue actually works on a wedding day.

We also consider what’s much harder to discover online: how flexible the team is, how well the space works for your number of guests, where potential logistical problems may appear, and whether the venue can genuinely support the experience you want to create.

So while you are very welcome to explore the venues below, you do not need to work out the right one alone. We will shortlist, research and compare the options with you, giving you the information you need before you make such an important decision.

Vineyard & Winery Weddings in Bulgaria

A vineyard wedding in Bulgaria can be a wonderful choice if food and wine are already part of how you enjoy life together.

For me, the appeal is not only the view. It is the pace of the place. There is something lovely about bringing everyone together somewhere surrounded by vines, sitting down for a long dinner and allowing the wedding to unfold without feeling rushed.

A winery can also work beautifully for a destination wedding weekend. Depending on the venue, you might welcome guests with dinner or a wine tasting before the wedding, then spend a little more time together the following day.

But a beautiful vineyard is not automatically the right wedding venue.

When we recommend one, we also look at how your guests will reach it, where they can stay, what the indoor option is if the weather changes and how the venue actually works once dinner, music and dancing begin.

For international couples, this kind of setting can also give guests a genuine taste of Bulgaria rather than simply bringing them here for one evening.

Is a vineyard wedding right for you?

A vineyard may feel right if you both enjoy good food, wine and being outdoors, and if you like the idea of spending more time with your guests rather than fitting everything into a very formal schedule.

Some couples love the relaxed atmosphere of a winery. Others need easier airport access, more accommodation on site or a very different kind of evening celebration. That is why we always look at the whole picture before recommending a venue.

What should you consider?

Many winery venues are outside the main cities, which makes transport and accommodation particularly important.

We also look at the indoor Plan B, evening temperatures, music restrictions and how much flexibility the venue gives us with the timing of the day.

If you are planning from abroad, these practical details matter just as much as the setting itself.

Black Sea & Coastal Weddings in Bulgaria

There is something very different about asking your guests to travel to the coast for your wedding.

The celebration begins before the ceremony ever starts. People arrive, settle in, meet by the pool or over drinks, wander down to the beach and slowly move into holiday mode. By the time the wedding day comes, everyone already feels part of something.

That is what makes the Bulgarian Black Sea so appealing as a destination wedding location.

You can choose dramatic clifftop views in the north, a relaxed beach atmosphere in the south, or a resort where almost everything happens in one place. The setting can feel glamorous, easy-going, intimate or completely celebratory depending on where you choose.

For me, the real advantage of the coast is time. Time for guests to be together before the wedding. Time for a welcome drink or dinner. Time for a lazy morning the next day. The wedding becomes part of a few days everyone shares rather than one evening that passes too quickly.

A wedding weekend by the sea

The Black Sea works especially well when you want the wedding to feel like a destination experience.

A couple might welcome guests with cocktails overlooking the water, spend the next day celebrating, and finish with brunch, a pool day or another relaxed gathering before everyone travels home.

Not every wedding needs to become a three-day event, of course. But having everyone staying nearby gives you possibilities that are much harder to create at a city venue.

Choosing the right part of the coast

The Bulgarian coastline offers very different experiences.

The northern coast around Balchik and Cape Kaliakra is known for dramatic cliffs, golf resorts and wide sea views.

Further south, places such as Sozopol and Lozenets have a more relaxed summer atmosphere, with beaches, seaside restaurants and resorts that lend themselves beautifully to longer destination stays.

The right choice depends less on which view is most impressive and more on what you want your guests to experience while they are there.

The details that make a coastal wedding work

Sea views are wonderful, but coastal weddings come with their own practical considerations.

Wind can completely change an outdoor ceremony. Summer temperatures affect timing. Some resorts are easier to reach from Varna or Burgas airports than others, and guest accommodation becomes especially important when everyone is travelling from abroad.

These are the details we consider alongside the beauty of the setting, so the experience feels relaxed for your guests rather than complicated behind the scenes.

Mountains, Forests & Lakeside Retreats in Bulgaria

Bulgaria is often associated with its Black Sea coast, but some of its most beautiful wedding settings are found further inland, among the Rila, Pirin, Balkan and Rhodope Mountains, surrounded by forests, lakes and reservoirs.

From the pine forests of Borovets and the mountain landscape around Bansko to Pravets Lake, Kardzhali Reservoir and Zhrebchevo Reservoir, these parts of Bulgaria offer very different possibilities for a destination wedding.

You might choose an internationally recognised mountain resort where your guests can stay together for an entire weekend, a private forest venue hidden among the trees, a lakeside retreat or a smaller property surrounded almost entirely by nature.

These are also places we know from a planner’s perspective, not simply venues we have found online. Prikazen Den (Fairytale Day) has planned weddings in mountain and nature settings in Bulgaria, so we understand that a beautiful landscape is only one part of choosing the right venue.
